Thank you for checking in. I started drafting an email last week about how happy we have been with Bristol, she is really the sweetest dog. She is house-trained (only a couple accidents at first) and crate-trained. She loves to be petted, and playing outside in the yard. She also loves our daily walks at a park with a beach, she loves all the smells at the beach and running around in the sand. There was a little snow on the ground this morning, and she had a blast, I couldnt get her in the house She loves to look out the window and watch birds, it is so cute to see her perched up there.
She loves to be close to me (she is a mommas dog), always laying by my feet or scooting close to me somehow, I love it.
I thought I would share some pictures with you of Bristol in her new home.
Thank you so much for giving us our little peanut, we are in love!
Tobie is doing well. We had some issues with the crate being downstairs on the first few nights, so we put it upstairs (first in our bedroom and now in the hallway). He does really well in the crate overnight, but we are having a lot of trouble with him staying calm in the crate during the day. He really panics when we leave him alone. We havent left him alone very much (maybe only about 3 or 4 times in the past week and a half and for no more than an hour or so), but he really freaks out and tries to destroy the crate and anything that is in it. So, we obviously need to work on that.
Another major issue is his attachment to me. When I leave the house, even if hes home with my husband and daughter, hes restless and crying and a general mess. Im hoping that, in time, hell get adjusted to being with my husband and daughter. This afternoon through tomorrow afternoon will be a challenge because I will not be around for 24 hours. So, well see how that goes!
He does well with my daughter and other kids, but needs to work on not jumping when he gets too hyper I figure that it mostly just puppy energy, so Im not overly concerned about that. Hes good at knowing what is his and what isnt but he seems to destroy most toys we give him. So far, the only things he hasnt been able to destroy are the kong and nylabones (and, for some reason, hes okay with tennis balls but destroys all dog toy balls). He likes tug toys, but he destroys them as well Any advice on good chewing items would be welcome!
He had some issues with soft stool earlier in the week. I wonder if it is one of the treats or the light peanut butter I put in the Kong? Ive been limiting his treats and havent given him the peanut butter, and hes okay now. But I wanted to use the peanut butter in the Kong as a treat for him in the crate. Do you think I should try again?
So, all in all, he has some issues related to separation anxiety and nervousness. But he seems to get a little bit more confident every day. If some of these problems persist, then I think well need to work with a trainer to help Tobie feel more confident
Things are going great! Zero (formerly Mesa) is turning out to be a great running partner! She has a lot of energy but is very cuddly still at the same time. Shes one smart dog and training is gonna be a blast with her, especially because shes so easily motivated by food, toys, and affection! Thanks so much for approving me to adopt her
Things are going well with Polly. She’s fitting right in in her new home. We had forgotten how much work it is having a puppy, but it is also quite rewarding and fun, she’s such a good-natured and playful pup. She’s coming along well with her crate training. We’ve been going to a puppy training class at PetSmart which has been really helpful.
Thanks again to you all at FHR for getting us connected with Polly.
we could not be any happier with Daisywe changed her name as you know from Echo to Daisy.she is a joy..she is very friendly, loves other dogs, and is trained pretty wellthe snow was a challenge this winter and trying to get her to go out etcit was funny as soon as the snow melted, she was sneezing and I was concern she had a cold or allergiesbut we figured out that her nose is so sensitive (she is a beagle) that she was smelling the earth and it was new to her or she hadnt smelled dirt and grass in a long time!!
She sits when asked and we give her treats..she loves people food and begs at the table but we try to resist..she is loved by everyoneshe has grown so much too..I bet she is close to 20 lbs..not sure she hasnt been weighed in a whileshe is up to date on all her shots and has started the lymes vacinationwe have one more to go. She is officially licensed with the Town of Dedham.
She loves her walks but sniffs so much! that I was hoping to get in a good work out..but maybe after a whilealso, I sometimes jokingly refer to as Bi-Polar Puppy cause she is so relaxed and laid back and then she is biting and going crazybut that is probably the puppy in her.
Again, we are so blessed to have Daisy in our lives.I cannot wait until the warm weatherwe have a boat and got her a life jacket so that she can come and enjoy the sea with us.
